17 Jan Apps for Kids
We are aware that technology is everywhere, we use it everyday without even realizing it. Kids are also using it everyday, they are glued to the TV, iPad, a video game, or the computer. But this is the world that we live in and we can’t ignore the fact that technology is a huge part of our kids lives. Instead of being afraid of technology and the effects it might have on our kids, we can see it as a learning tool that they can benefit from.
Technology, says Larry Berger, executive director of Wireless Generation, is becoming more social, adaptive, and customized, and as a result it can be an amazing teaching tool.
Kids today are “digital natives,” our high-tech world is advancing at lightening speed and this is the world they are growing up in. When used in the right way apps can be a great learning tool for you child.
According to developmental psychologist Peter Gray, engaging with an app is preferable to a passive activity such as watching TV. “[Kids are] interested in tools where they can actually make something happen,” notes Gray, which isn’t surprising because “we are a tool-using species.”
At JollyBooks, education is our number one goal. We know that your child already spends plenty of time in front of the TV, the computer, or the iPad, but why not make that time count? Our apps for kids are designed to be fun, to bring joy to learning and to expand the imagination through education.
